Reality TV is a compelling mix of apparently ‘raw’, ‘authentic’ material with the gravitas of the news magazine package or informational programme, combining the commercial success of tabloid content within a public service mode of address. At the level of construction, reality TV is characterized by:
Camcorder, surveillance or observational ‘actuality’ footage’…
First-person participant or eye-witness testimony;
Reconstructions that rely upon narrative fiction styles;
Studio or to-camera links and commentary from ‘authoritative’ presenters’
Expert statements from emergency services personnel or psychologists

Dance as a genre has been revolutionized, as a dancer myself growing up there was not many shows that would fit the criteria of a dance reality TV Show. Especially for the teenage audience.
But recently I have seen how there has been a new audience developed just within that sector.
ITV released a show called 'Dance Dance Dance' in January of this year, it was a success coming on every Sunday in the evening. The show followed celebrities with a partner or either a friend learn the choreography for famous dance routines, which thy would be then judged on it by famous dance panel. They did dances from Micheal Jackson to modern day Rihanna.
The show was judged by Ashley Banjo, Tina Landon and Timor Steffens
Heres a Clip:
With celebrities participating in this genre it allows the audience people to relate to. It is making the experience more immersive for them as they get the chance to see their favorite celebs in a raw setting. The show often shows behind the scenes and what training the celebrities undergo. They have ups and downs emotionally and through this it conveys them as regular people as the audience connects with them.
Also when they perform the show they also have a live audience.
Here is another recent dance show that was broadcast on network television.

You Tube is also a common setting for dance videos to occur within classes. People within the production industry are now enabled to make a living within this sector.
Take a look at the video below of the type of work these producers can create.
This Video is from Tim Milgram, Dance Video Content Producer
This is a career path I have also considered to go down to combine my passion for dance with my passion with film production. It would be a good start in the industry. Having gone to USA, Los Angeles, last year November I got the chance to see Tim Milgram film one of these classes, as I participated it really was great insight to see how it all works.
